Gentle Breeze Baby Hat

Gentle Breeze Baby Blanket.
 
Here is the matching hat - 2 sizes at the moment -
medium premature and 0-3months

Requires ~
DK yarn
4mm needles


Tension ~
22sts = 4" (10cm) 




Preemie Hat        Medium Premature        9″ circumference,  4½“ high


Cast on 51sts

Border ~

Rows 1 – 6:         S1, knit to end

Now work in pattern ~

Row 1:                 S1, k1, * k2tog, k2, kfb, kfb, k3, s1, k1, psso, k1, repeat from * to last st, k1

Row 2:                 S1, purl to last st, k1

Repeat the last 2 rows twice more

Rows 7 – 10:      S1, knit to end

Repeat the last 10 rows once more

Next Row:           S1, knit to end

Next Row:           S1, purl to last st, k1

 
Shape Top ~


Next Row:           *K3, k2tog, repeat from * to last st, k1                   (41sts)

Next Row:           S1, purl to last st, k1       

Next Row:           *K2, k2tog, repeat from * to last st, k1                   (31sts)

Next Row:           S1, purl to last st, k1       

Next Row:           *K1, k2tog, repeat from * to last st, k1                   (21sts)
 
Next Row:           S1, purl to last st, k1       

Next Row:           * K2tog, repeat from * to last st, k1     (11sts)                                                                                                           
Next Row:           S1, purl to last st, k1                                                    

Cut the yarn leaving a ‘tail’.

With a yarn needle, pull the yarn through all the remaining loops and secure

Sew up side seam and weave in ends.

Border ~

Rows 1 – 6:         S1, knit to end

Now work in pattern ~

Row 1:                 S1, k1, * k2tog, k2, kfb, kfb, k3, s1, k1, psso, k1, repeat from * to last st, k1

Row 2:                 S1, purl to last st, k1

Repeat the last 2 rows twice more

Rows 7 – 10:      S1, knit to end

Repeat pattern rows 1 - 10  once more
Repeat pattern rows 1 – 6
Next Row:           S1, k1, k2tog, knit to last 4sts, s1, k1, psso, k2                     (61sts)
Next Row:           S1, knit to end
Repeat last row 3 times more
Next Row:           S1, purl to last st, k1

Next Row:           S1, purl to last st, k1

  6. I think needle size would be same as the jacket. I've been using 4mm needles and it works great!
